Jamia Furbush, LMSW, CPT

Jamia Furbush is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a focus on Child Welfare from Morgan State University and a Master of Social Work Degree with a concentration in Displaced Populations from Howard University. 

Jamia encompasses over 15 years of experience in the Human Services field at the private, local government, state government and federal government levels, focusing on the economic, social, and emotional safety and well-being of children, families, individuals, and communities. 

Jamia is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others, especially children, through focusing on empowerment and actions, to help improve the overall quality of life of those she encounters.

Through strengths-based approaches, Jamia implements Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Holistic Therapy, Spiritual Therapy, Meditation Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Jamia is trained in Life Skills, Psychosocial Assessments, National Human Trafficking Prevention, Child Abuse Prevention, Mental Health First Aid, Abridged Psychological First Aid for Children and Youth, and Racial Equity Impact Analysis.

Jamia believes that you can conduct an intentional capacity assessment so that you experience rewarding emotions and feel empowered in multiple areas of your life. She emphasizes that we are all works in progress with a purpose; once we embrace our journey and work hard, we can let “success” make all the noise with a clear vision of what we want and where we are going.

In her free time, Jamia enjoys travel, international cuisine, outdoor adventures, health and fitness, DIY projects, and experiential learning opportunities.
